Brooklyn woman airlifted from scene of motorcycle crash Sunday in Wheatland Township

WHEATLAND TWP. — A Brooklyn woman was airlifted from the scene of a crash between a motorcycle and a car Sunday in Wheatland Township.

Hillsdale County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of East Bacon Road and Jerome Road just after 1 p.m. Sunday.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2018 Toyota Corolla driven by Tairum Smith, 38, of Quincy was traveling southbound on North Jerome Road when they pulled out onto East Bacon Road and struck a westbound 1994 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Mark Bice, 62, of Brooklyn.

Bice’s passenger, Beverly Bice, 60, also of Brooklyn, was airlifted from the scene to the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor for injuries sustained in the collision. Bice himself was transported to Hillsdale Hospital by Hudson Area Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

The driver and passengers in the Toyota Corolla were uninjured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office.
