BROCKTON – A Brockton man who was shot Tuesday evening in the city has died, officials said.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said Thursday afternoon that Marvin Hill, 35, of Brockton, died at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Brockton police responded to a report of a shooting outside 28 Lexington St., near the corner of Green Street, about 6:17 p.m. Tuesday.

"Upon arrival, first responders located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," the DA's office said in a written statement.

The victim, later identified as Hill, was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, then flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel, where he later died.

Brockton police contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County DA's office and a joint investigation began.

"The investigation is active and ongoing, at this time," the DA's office said Thursday. "Preliminarily, this does not appear to be a random act of violence."
