The Brits Loved Ben and 'Argo'
The slow march toward an Oscar win for Argo got another boost on Sunday. The British Academy of Film and Television had their yearly to-do on Sunday, and they just loved Ben's big movie.

Yes, the British answer to the Oscars gave Argo its Best Picture award and Affleck its Best Director trophy. He beat out Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino, Ang Lee and Michael Hanke for the trophy. Count this as another notch on Affleck's belt (which is getting pretty notch-y) since the Oscars snubbed him and didn't nominate him for their directing prize. (Bigelow was also snubbed by the Academy.) Since then, Affleck has picked up a slew of local fim critics' best director awards to go along with less prestigious trophies from the Golden Globes and the Director's Guild of America.

Sure, there is a contingent who have already concluded Argo is a lock for best picture. But it ain't over until it's over. Or, that's why we play the game.
