Britney Spears' Pop Anthem Gets A Beautiful Vintage Makeover

This gorgeous reworking is anything but “Toxic.”

The musical collective Postmodern Jukebox has given Britney Spears’ 2003 pop smash a vintage twist. And it’s glorious.

This time, “American Idol” alum Melinda Doolittle is on vocals.

“I remember hearing Melinda sing ‘My Funny Valentine’ during Season 6 of ‘American Idol’ years ago, and being awestruck at power, nuance, and polish of her voice,” Scott Bradlee, the group’s creator, posted on PMJ’s website.

In arranging a song for her, I wanted to be sure to showcase all this and more — and, indeed, she raised the bar for PMJ vocals in this video,” he added.

See below to get a sense of how it compares to Britney’s original:

The cover has garnered more than 180,000 views since being posted to YouTube on Thursday. Postmodern Jukebox will tour across the U.S. starting in September.
