British rider Chris Froome defends yellow jersey on stage 10 of Tour de France
SAINT-GILDAS-DES-BOIS, France - Race favourite Chris Froome defends the yellow jersey on Tuesday's 10th stage of the Tour de France, a long flat stage that favours sprinters.
Peter Sagan is leading the sprinters' green jersey contest and will look to secure his second win of the race so far on the 197-kilometre (122-mile) route from Saint-Gildas-des-Bois to Saint-Malo.
Froome, who was the Tour runner-up to countryman Bradley Wiggins last year, leads Alejandro Valverde by 1 minute, 25 seconds and is 1:51 ahead of two-time champion Alberto Contador.
Froome's priority on stage 10 will be to stay safely in the main pack and avoid any potential crashes. There were several heavy spills in the first week.
