British Man Accidentally Kills Himself While Demonstrating 'Stab-Proof' Vest

Jordan Easton mistakenly thought he was wearing a vest that was 'stab-proof,' authorities said.

A 22-year-old British man plunged a knife into his own chest, thinking he was wearing a stab-proof vest, police said. He later died at a nearby hospital.

Jordan Easton had been out with friends when the group stopped at the home of one of his friends' parents. In the kitchen, he stabbed himself under the mistaken belief the vest he was wearing would repel the blade.

A coroner's inquest into the 2017 death determined Friday the young man died by "misadventure," a determination that Easton did not intend to kill himself.

After telling his friends he was wearing a "stab-proof vest," the young man "took hold of a knife to demonstrate it was stab-proof and sadly realized it wasn't the case," said Teeside assistant coroner Karin Welsh, according to TeesideLive.

He was rushed to an emergency room, but "despite the best efforts of the medical professionals, they were unable to save him," Welsh said.

Police interviewed Easton's family and friends, who said they found no evidence he wanted to harm himself.

"I can't imagine what you're going through," Welsh told his family at the inquest.
