Britain to allocate over $3 billion in military aid to Ukraine annually - David Cameron

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron pledged on May 2 to provide Ukraine with military aid worth three billion pounds sterling ($3.74 billion) annually.

"We will give three billion pounds every year for as long as is necessary. We've just really emptied all we can in terms of giving equipment," he told Reuters in an interview during his visit to Kyiv, adding that some of that equipment is actually arriving in Ukraine today.

Britain does not object to Ukraine using its weapons on Russian territory, Cameron said in the same interview.

David Cameron's visit to Kyiv 

Cameron arrived in Kyiv on May 2, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. He announced that the United Kingdom will provide more weapons to Ukraine, confirmed "unwavering support," and promised to spend 2.5% of GDP on defense, ITV reported.

The British government will provide Ukraine with precision bombs, air defense missiles, and equipment for 100 mobile anti-aircraft defense groups, he said.

During Cameron's meeting with Zelenskyy, they paid particular attention to preparations for upcoming international events, including the G7 Summit in Italy, the inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland, the NATO Summit in Washington, and the fourth European Political Community Summit in Britain, the Ukrainian President’s Office press service reported.

Britain's largest aid package to Ukraine

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on April 23 the allocation of the largest aid package to Ukraine in history from the United Kingdom, totaling over half a billion pounds sterling ($600 million).

The intention to allocate this aid package was earlier announced on the British government website.

Ukraine will receive:

  • 60 boats, including raid and diving boats, as well as naval guns;

  • Over 1600 strike and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles;

  • Over 400 units of equipment, including 160 Husky APCs, 162 armored vehicles, and 78 all-terrain vehicles;

  • Almost four million rounds of small arms ammunition.

The UK will provide Ukraine with three billion pounds sterling ($3.74 billion) in military aid throughout this financial year, the British government said.
