Brinks Truck Mishap Spews About $600,000 in Cash on Highway
Thousands of $20 bills flew across eight lanes of traffic in Indianapolis after they fell out of a Brinks armored truck when the rear door accidentally flew open Wednesday.
A highway camera shows traffic on I-70 in Indianapolis at a complete standstill as an estimated $600,000 in cash littered the highway, possibly more.
Jazmyne Cooper was driving her grandmother to the airport when she saw the cash flying all over the place.
"I was in shock at first, I’ve never seen anything like this," she told Inside Edition. “There was money in the water drain, all in the grass, a few 20's on the highway but more on the side of the highway."
She said she didn’t take any, but joked it was "very tempting."
However, other folks weren't so honest, according to Officer Sgt. John Perrine.
"Some people should have enough to buy a car," he told Inside Edition when asked how much others may have gotten away with.
Police are looking for the driver of a school bus who slammed on the brakes, got out and scooped up handfuls of money.
Anyone with sticky fingers can return the dough, no questions asked. Indiana State Police can be reached at 317-899-8577.
