‘Bring happiness to the people of Ukraine’ – coach Rebrov on Ukraine’s improbable comeback vs Bosnia

Ukrainian footballers demonstrated a hunger for victory, evidenced by the team’s two goals in the final 15 minutes to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-1 in the EURO 2024 qualification semifinal, said head coach Serhiy Rebrov, reported the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).

"I don't believe Bosnia lost to themselves,” Rebrov said.

“Our players pushed harder; we made some structural changes. Perhaps the opponent wasn't prepared for this structure. Maybe that's the issue. But I don't think Bosnia lost to themselves.”

“We created opportunities in the last 15 minutes, and the players showed their desire to win. So, we scored and won,” Rebrov said.

“I told the players before the game, that I hoped they would bring a bit of happiness to the people in Ukraine right now. Russia attacked Ukraine with 30 missiles last night. Missile attacks are happening every day.”

“Our mission and goal here are to show that we are still alive, that we are still fighting against the Russians, that we need Europe's help," he said.

Ukraine will face Iceland in a last-chance qualification match on March 26. With Ukraine the “home” side, the game will be played in Wroclaw, Poland.
