Brighton man killed in Pittsford crash identified

The passenger who died at the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Pittsford on Friday has been identified.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said Weiguo Peng, 60, of Brighton, was killed in the two-vehicle crash around at the intersection of Jefferson Road and Park Square Lane. Deputies said a vehicle traveling east on Jefferson Road struck another vehicle making a left turn onto Jefferson from Park Square Lane.

The first vehicle's driver, a 66-year-old male from Pittsford, was not injured. The second vehicle's driver, a 16-year-old male from Brighton, sustained severe lower extremity injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where was listed in stable condition. His passenger, Weiguo Peng, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Poor weather conditions and low visibility are believed to have contributed to the crash, deputies said.

"The MCSO extends our condolences to Mr. Peng’s family during this difficult time," said Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Brendan Hurley.
