Brighter Days inaugural conference kicks off at the Florence Center

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — The inaugural Brighter Days conference was held at the Florence Center Thursday.

More than 400 people gathered for the event, which focused on suicide prevention and mental health issues. The conference theme was “Connect, Collaborate, and Transform,” and it offered education and training for healthcare, education, and first responder professionals.

Attendees learned about risk screening assessments and crisis intervention skills.

Additionally, the event served as a platform to celebrate the upcoming MUSC Health Jean and Hugh K Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion, with attendees signed a steel beam that will be part of the new building.

Lynn Bulloch, president of the Jonathan Foundation, welcomed the group and invited local leaders to set the tone.

Bulloch expressed gratitude for the overwhelming interest in the conference, with 412 people registered and most in attendance.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the strategies shared at the conference highlight the community’s commitment to supporting mental health advancement.
