County attorney to speak to Conservatives

Cooke County Attorney Ed Zielienski with brief the Cooke County Conservatives group Tuesday, April 16.

Zielienski, who is running unopposed for reelection, with speak and take questions at the meeting, set for 7 p.m. at the Fold of Grand Avenue Church in Gainesville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Brian Bledsoe, President of the Texas Chapter of BLEXIT, a conservative group that targets black audiences, will also appear.

USDA offering drought relief in Cooke Co.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a natural disaster designation for Cooke and neighboring counties, due to recent drought conditions.

Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of an operation, or to refinance certain debts.

FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability. The deadline is Nov. 25. Go to https:// www.farmers.gov/protection-recovery/ disaster-tool for more info.

Patriot Dinner set for April 25

The Medal of Honor Host City Program Patriot Dinner will be held at the Gainesville Airport on Thursday, April 25. Tickets are $15 each and only 300 are available.

Tickets will be available during regular business hours at the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce will only be able to accept cash or checks for tickets.

Ribbon cutting next week for golf center

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce (GACC) is heading outdoors for their upcoming ribbon cutting to officially welcome

The Range of Gainesville. The GACC encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the fun of the celebration, as well as the fun waiting to be had at The Range of Gainesville.

The Range of Gainesville offers experienced golfers a place to warm up, school teams a place to practice their skills and the community a place to relax and enjoy a day out with friends or family.

The ribbon cutting for The Range of Gainesville is scheduled for Friday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. at their location, 4710 U.S. 82 in Gainesville. This event is free to attend and open to the public.

Sign ups open at Gainesville Aquatic Center

Gainesville Aquatic Center activity registration is now open.

The pool opens for general admission on May 25 and will be open daily from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Daily admission is $6 with kids two years old and younger getting in for free, permitted they are accompanied by an adult. Only one child under two per adult.

Season passes are also available with individual season passes for $80 and family passes for four members for $200.

Water aerobics classes are designed for ages 55 years and older. There will be morning and evening sessions, with $5 per session or a $90 season pass.

Swim lessons are available for kids ages four through 16 years old for $55 per student. Party cabana rental is available for celebrations during general hours. Renting the space is $40 for a two-hour block. The cabana can also be rented for the entire day for $80.

Parks and recreation is also hiring lifeguards for the season. No experience is necessary, but applicants must have current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Certification including basic first aid.
