Bridgewater, Raynham men charged federally in armed robbery of courier carrying $436,200

BRIDGEWATER — Three men are facing federal charges for robbing a courier at gunpoint who was carrying $436,200 in cash deposits which were collected at marijuana dispensaries in Middleboro, Plymouth and Fall River, according to a federal affidavit.

Steven Madison, of Bridgewater, Christopher White, of Raynham, and Quentin McDonald all face charges of robbery, conspiracy and malicious destruction of property after they allegedly robbed a courier while he was bringing bags of cash into the Bay Coast Bank in Swansea on Presidents Day, Feb. 19.

Madison and White also face a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

After the men were identified through witnesses, surveillance video and cellphone records, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms officials conducted a search of Madison and White’s homes in Bridgewater and Raynham on Wednesday, May 8, the affidavit states.

Officials found cocaine and firearms at both residences, as well as zip-ties consistent with the ones used in the robbery at White’s residence, the complaint states.

What's the evidence?

At around 12:36 p.m., the suspects were seen on surveillance and dashcam video arriving at the bank in a U-Haul that was stolen from a facility in Abington earlier that day. They held the courier at gunpoint, restrained him and forced him into the back of his vehicle where they pepper sprayed him, according to reporting by news partner WCVB.

As the suspects were fleeing, the courier was able to free his right hand from the zip-tie restraints and fired three rounds at the U-Haul as it fled down Route 118.

The suspects abandoned the vehicle, which was found burning half a mile away from the bank and left in a Jeep that was registered to McDonald’s brother, the affidavit states.

A special agent said in the complaint that White used $5,700 in cash to pay an overdue rent charge for his Raynham home. Shortly after, he made another cash payment of $8,500, the affidavit states.
