Bridge replacement beginning in Perry County

TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — A bridge replacement project is slated to begin next week in Buckwheat Valley Road (Route 4006) in Tuscarora Township, Perry County.

The bridge spans Buckwheat Run near the intersection of Shull Hill Road. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, this project includes a box culvert replacement, roadway reconstruction, and other miscellaneous construction.

Weather permitting, the bridge will be closed on or about Monday, March 4. There will be a detour in place using Route 849, Route 74, Route 17 and Creek Road (Route 4007).

This Week in Pennsylvania

A short-term closure is also planned for Shull Hill Road at the intersection with Buckwheat Valley Road to allow for paving. During that closure, motorists will be able to detour using Picnic Wood Road, Timber Road and Stone Arch Road.

All work is expected to be completed by June 17, 2024.
