Aside from Tom Brady’s supermodel wife Gisele, there aren’t many NFL spouses more famous than Miko Grimes (maybe Katherine Webb-McCarron or Jessie James Decker … the list is short). If you follow Miko Grimes on Twitter, you know why she’s so well known.

Apparently, some of her social media rants are by design. There’s an amazing passage from an SI.com profile on Brent, the cornerback with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his marriage with Miko. It spells out how Miko blasting the Miami Dolphins on Twitter was designed to get him cut. And Brent gave the go-ahead.

According to the story, the Dolphins told Brent Grimes he’d have to take a pay cut and if he refused, the Dolphins would wait to cut him until other teams had used up their cap room. A Dolphins spokesman told SI.com that discussion never took place, and it is pretty hard to believe that conversation happened. However, Miko Grimes said that’s what brought on an onslaught of negative tweets toward the Dolphins and quarterback Ryan Tannehill in particular.

“People say I got him cut with my mouth,” Miko Grimes told SI.com. “Duh! That was the goal!”

The legend of Miko Grimes and her Twitter account grows. Miko told SI that with Brent Grimes contemplating retirement as the Dolphins threatened him (again, denied by the team), her plan was to go “as wild as possible on social media” and her husband signed off on it.

“[Brent] said, ‘Go for it,’” Miko Grimes told SI.com. “I got his full permission to be as disrespectful to the Dolphins as I wanted to be. And I threw in Tannehill because I don’t like him or his wife.”

Amazing. If the plan was for the Dolphins to cut Brent Grimes because Miko Grimes was too wild, it worked. The Dolphins cut Grimes, and he signed on with the Buccaneers for $13.5 million over two seasons. Brent had a very good 2016 campaign with the Bucs. The Buccaneers, by the way, will be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” later this summer … think their camera crew will spend some time talking to Miko?

All of this tells us that you’re one of the 22,000 people who follow @IHeartMiko on Twitter and see she’s blasting a troll or making some other controversial (or off-color) statement, just realize there might be a plan behind it.
