Breaux Bridge man charged with attempted murder in connection with Lafayette shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Breaux Bridge man has been arrested in connection with a shooting stemming from a Lafayette bar fight in February, authorities said.

Jamar Showers, 30 of Breaux Bridge, is charged with attempted first degree murder and illegal use of weapons.

Police said Showers engaged in a physical altercation with another person in a parking lot of a bar located in the 200 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway on Feb. 24. Afterward, the victim left the area, heading south on Ambassador Caffery.

While driving the victim noticed a gray Dodge truck in the lane to the right of him. A man hanging out of the rear driver’s side window began firing multiple shots at him, police said. The victim was not injured but his vehicle had four bullet holes.
