Update | Schools, Hanford and PNNL closed Thursday after winter storm hits Tri-Cities

Pasco, Kennewick and Richland school districts were closed Thursday.

Snow began to fall Wednesday afternoon and several inches of new snow coated the Tri-Cities Thursday morning.

Freezing rain is possible in the Tri-Cities until 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast. A winter storm warning was issued until afternoon.

Thursday delays, closures

Update: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is closed to all but staff essential to safety or security.

Update: Hanford nuclear reservation, including the vitrification plant, is closed to nonessential workers for the day shift. Employees will telework, if able. Swing and graveyard shifts are on their regular schedule.

Update: Columbia Basin College is closed.

Update: Ben Franklin Transit opened at 9 a.m. with partial service every 30 minutes on Metro routes 1 and 3. Service on Route 225, except for stops on Bradley Boulevard and CBC, to start at 10 a.m. No other services or routes were running.

Pasco School District is closed and all athletic and school events will be canceled.

Kennewick School District is closed and online classes through Mid-Columbia Partnership and Endeavor High School will be canceled. Tri-Tech Skills Center is closed. Athletics, activities and events will be canceled.

Richland School District is closed.

Update: North Franklin School District is closed.

Update: Columbia School District in Burbank is closed.

River View (Finley) School District and the Kiona-Benton City School District are closed.

Prosser School District is closed.

Hermiston School District is closed.

Kiona-Benton City School District classes are canceled.

Calvary Christian School, including the daycare, is closed.

Christ the King School and Bethlehem Lutheran School classes are closed.

Kingspoint Christian School will be closed with no after school activities.

St. Joseph’s School in Kennewick and its Children’s Center is closed.

Paterson School District is closed.

Touchet School District is closed..

Grandview School District is closed.

Benton Franklin Head Start is canceling all classes and visits.

Update: Umatilla and Stanfield school districts are closed.

Prescott School District is closed.

West Side Church in Richland is closed. No preschool.

Kahlotus School District is closed.

Waitsburg School District is closed.

Update: All branches of the Mid-Columbia Libraries closed Thursday.

Tri-Cities Food Bank is closed.

Franklin County offices will be closed Thursday, with the exception of Superior and District courts. The courts will open at 10 a.m. and close for the day at noon.

Benton County Superior Court, including Juvenile Court in Kennewick, also will not start until 10 a.m. There currently are no plans to close early.

Mid-Columbia School Delays & Closures

Richland city offices will open two hours late.

Kennewick city offices will not open before 10 a.m.

West Richland city offices will open two hours late.

Pasco city offices will not open before 10 a.m.

Prosser City Hall will not open until 10 a.m.

Tri-Cities Community Health clinics will not open until 10 a.m.

Update: Kennewick and Pasco offices of the Benton Franklin Health District are closed.

Lourdes Counseling Center will not open until 10 a.m.

Children’s Development Center will open two hours late.

Meals on Wheels will have no home delivery or drive-through meal service. All dining centers will be closed.
