Shaking felt across Southern California as magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes near town of Cabazon

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that two earthquakes struck within minutes of each other about 6.8 miles north of Cabazon, California, on Tuesday morning.

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit the area at a depth of 5 miles shortly before 5 a.m. local time, according to the USGS. The quake was initially measured at a magnitude of 4.6, but was later downgraded.

Two minutes later, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake, with a depth of about 7 miles, was reported in the same area.

Some nearby residents reported via social media that the shaking of their homes woke them up.

There were no reports of damage during the temblor and no tsunami advisory was issued.
