Breaking down the Buffalo Bills 2017 Depth Chart: Guard and Center
Entering the 2017 NFL Season, the Buffalo Bills have plenty of decisions to make before the start of the season. With training camp and the preseason now just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how these on and off the field decisions are made and what effect they are likely to have on the short term future in Buffalo.
As it pertains to the team’s roster for the upcoming season, decisions are quickly looming with roster cuts and depth chart moves likely to come. Continuing our new series, we will take a look each day at a positional group on the Buffalo Bills roster and what the outlook appears to be as well as make our own predictions on how things will turn out.
Continuing our new series today, we will take a look at what the future holds for the Buffalo Bills at the guard and center positions.

Guard and Center
Starters: Richie Incognito (LG), Eric Wood (C), and John Miller (RG)
Likely set on the interior starter wise this season, the Buffalo Bills look to have a stable group of players on the interior of the offensive line. That said, with two of these players over the age of 30 and one of those players — Wood — coming off a bad injury from last season, the Bills interior line could be set for a shakeup in the near future.
With a lack of overall depth outside of one solid guard backup, the Bills would definitely be trouble should the injury bug strike once again. Until that happens though, the combination of Incognito, Wood and Miller on the interior offensive line should provide a solid level of skill and allow the run and pass game to do their thing this season.
Backups: Vladimir Ducasse (G) and Ryan Groy (C)
Adding a veteran backup to the guard position, Vladimir Ducasse does provide the Buffalo Bills with a safety net of sorts at the guard spot. With Incognito getting up there in years, the chance for injury rises. With nothing but unproven players behind him on the depth chart, Ducasse could play an extremely important role this season for the Bills.
BILLS NEWS: McDermott already looking like the right hire for Buffalo
Also a potential safety net for the Bills this season is Ryan Groy. Despite being listed as a Guard, Groy is a backup center for this team. Replacing Eric Wood once he went down last season, expect Groy to assume a similar role this season should Eric Wood once again have some injury concerns in 2017.
Best of the Rest: Greg Pyke
Adding undrafted free agent Greg Pyke during the offseason, the Buffalo Bills look to have an okay group of young players to test during the preseason. While only one of these players will be a lock to make the roster, I believe that lock lands on Pyke due to his time playing for the Georgia Bulldogs during his time his college.
Cut Line: Zach Voytek, Patrick Lewis, and Jordan Mudge
With two players at each position set to make the roster based on the above, one of two of these three men could also join them as third string/reserve roster players for 2017. Depending on how they perform in the preseason and training camp, my early money would be on Patrick Lewis and Jordan Mudge for making the team while Zach Voytek battles it out in an attempt to make the practice squad.
