BREAKING: Apartment fire in central Abilene, dozens evacuated
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — A structure fire occurred at an Abilene apartment complex on Friday evening.
The fire occurred at the Aspen Square Apartments, located in the 1700 block of South 3rd Street. Evacuations were set in place, and dozens of people and animals were evacuated.
According to Chief Flores, one apartment was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire spread to two other apartments. The smoke spread throughout the entire complex due to the shared attic space.
Access to the wing of the apartment affected by the fire is restricted. One person was transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
