The League of Legends 2017 Mid-Season Invitational closing ceremony this weekend will feature an appearance from renowned Brazilian soccer player Ronaldo Fenomeno, Riot Games has announced.
Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, receiving three FIFA World Player of the Year awards throughout his career. He represented Brazil and scored 62 goals for the team, the second-highest number of goals scored by a player. Ronaldo invested in a Brazilian League of Legends team earlier this year.
The 2017 MSI closing ceremony will take place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this Sunday, May 21. For those who can’t be there in person, the live broadcast is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM PDT and will be available for viewing on Twitch.
“I am very happy to be a part of this scene and get to know the teams and tournaments closely,” Ronaldo said in a statement. “Esports is already a reality around the world, bringing together thousands of players and fans, and Brazil is increasingly moving towards being a power to be reckon with, just as in soccer and in many other sports.”
