Braves accidentally play 'Rock You Like a Hurricane' in game against Miami

The Atlanta Braves did a good thing Thursday. They offered free tickets for their weekend series with the Miami Marlins to anybody from Florida who was displaced because of Hurricane Irma.

And then, Thursday night, the Braves did something that wasn’t as good.

With the Marlins in town at SunTrust Park, the Braves played “Rock You Like A Hurricane” by Scorpions between innings. That’s … well … that’s not the best idea someone in the Braves organization had Thursday. As you’d guess, people noticed and weren’t exactly thrilled.

In case we need to point this out: Hurricane Irma poses an imminent danger to many parts of Florida, including Miami, where evacuation orders were escalated Thursday. Now, the Braves are obviously aware of this, since earlier in the day they invited Florida residents to this very game for free.

So either someone has a very sick sense of humor or it was an accident. The Braves confirmed to Miami Herald writer Clark Spencer that it was indeed the latter.

The explanation makes sense. Of course, you could argue songs with “hurricane” references should have been deleted a week and a half ago, when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. Nonetheless, the Braves bought themselves some goodwill earlier in the day, so this little mishap doesn’t deserve to linger too long.
