PEORIA — Bradley sophomore wing Jayson Kent entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Bradley men's basketball coach Brian Wardle said he met with Kent.

"We can confirm that Jayson is in the transfer portal," Wardle said. "We wish him the best in the future."

The 6-foot-7, 205-pound Oak Forest native moved into the starting lineup in the 2021-22 season after senior forward Ja'Shon Henry suffered a concussion in a Dec. 18 game. Kent started the rest of the season as Henry returned for just one game.

Henry announced last week he was coming back for a fifth season. That might have influenced Kent, who was believed to want a featured role next season.

Kent played 28 games for Bradley in 2021-22, and averaged 6.9 points per game in 20 minutes. He shot 38.2% from the field and 26.4% from 3, and added 2.9 rebounds per outing.

For his BU career, Kent appeared in 51 games, scored 5.4 points per game, shot 37.7% from the field and grabbed 2.1 rebounds per game.

Kent's departure gives the Braves three scholarship slots to fill. Senior Ari Boya and graduate student Mikey Howell both finished their careers at BU and began seeking pro careers earlier this month.

The Braves are in the market for a backup point guard and a big man.

Among the known offers Bradley has made are two JUCO players who fit those positions of need.

Bryant Selebangue is a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward who played this season for Florida Southwestern State College, where the Braves got starting point guard Terry Roberts. Selebangue is No. 36 in the 2022 JUCO top 100 player rankings by jucorecruiting.com.

James "Pop" Weathers is a 6-foot-1 point guard from State College Florida, and ranks No. 62 on the JUCO list.
