Bradley Cooper Finally Confronts American Sniper's ‘Fake Baby’

Remember that hilariously bad fake baby from ‘American Sniper’?

It was spotted pretty early on after the release of Clint Eastwood’s Oscar-nominated movie, which saw Bradley Cooper playing US Navy Seal Chris Kyle.

The scene featured Cooper cradling the little tyke, and even wobbling its arm to make it seem like it wasn’t actually a doll.

Many critics and movie-goers criticised the scene for disrupting the drama, the actors clearly uncomfortable with the situation.

And it was broached at the time, with screenwriter Jason Hall tweeting: “Hate to ruin the fun but real baby #1 showed up with a fever. Real baby #2 was no show. (Clint voice) Gimme the doll, kid.”

Appearing on the Ellen show yesterday Bradley Cooper spoke about the scene, after it had been brought up during an interview with his co-star Sienna Miller on the show earlier this month.

“I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe that we were working with a plastic baby,” he said. “I was like 'this is nuts’.

“You’re with a plastic baby! The suspension of disbelief is massive. I have to say, I grew to be very fond of that. I fell in love with that plastic thing.

“Eat your heart out, Muppets.”

At least is wasn’t as nightmare-inducing as the one in ‘Twilight’…

Cooper is next up in ‘Burnt’, playing a drug-addled chef trying to rebuild his life and gain three Michelin stars.

It’s out on November 6.
