Brad Pitt Steps Out in L.A. Looking Thinner

Brad Pitt was spotted out in Los Angeles - and he’s looking slimmer.

The actor was seen arriving at his art studio on Thursday sporting a beard. “He’s healthy and much happier,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Things with his family have improved, all is being addressed privately, and it’s serving everyone in the family well.“

Another source previously told PEOPLE the actor has been working out “almost daily” and had “lost a few pounds, he’s in very good shape.”

Pitt, who donned a black bomber jacket, white shirt and jeans and Etnia Barcelona sunglasses, also showed off a new shorter haircut. The 53-year-old kept his hands in his jacket pockets as he bounded up the stairs to head into his art studio. The actor has been spending more time focusing on his artistic side and has taken up a new hobby: sculpting.

“He recently spent many days and even nights working on a sculpture,” an insider told PEOPLE “People close to him are happy that he has found something new to be passionate about.”

Recently, Pitt has been “in better spirits” since weathering a difficult split from Angelina Jolie in September after 12 years together, an entertainment-industry source told PEOPLE. As the two work with a private judge to resolve the divorce and custody, “things are definitely calming down,” the insider told PEOPLE.

The actor has also been spending more time with his kids while also keeping busy with work, lining up his next movies as an actor and a producer. “He’s looking forward to getting back to work,” the first source says.

Pitt’s next film, War Machine, is out on Netflix on May 26.
