UPDATE: Suspect in Manitowoc BP Gas Station robbery identified

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities have identified the suspect who was arrested in Green Bay after allegedly robbing a BP Gas Station in Manitowoc on the morning of May 9.

According to a release from the Manitowoc Police Department, 32-year-old Justin L. Smith was taken into custody for a probation and parole warrant stemming from an investigation into the robbery incident.

Officials say Smith is currently in custody at the Manitowoc County Jail and is facing additional charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of THC. They also discovered that while reviewing Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Program records he has a prior felony for Armed Robbery in Manitowoc County.

Smith is scheduled to be in court for a bail hearing on Monday, May 13.

BP Gas Station robbed in Manitowoc, suspect found and arrested in Green Bay

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was taken into custody in Green Bay after allegedly robbing a BP Gas Station in Manitowoc on Thursday morning.

According to the Manitowoc Police Department, officers were sent to the BP Gas Station located at 2914 Calumet Avenue at around 11:45 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a robbery.

The suspect did not display a weapon during this robbery and had fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival with an undetermined amount of cash.

With the assistance of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, teams immediately began tracking the suspect’s movements utilizing drones and K9 Rocky. During this track, K9 Rocky led officers to valuable evidence, which had been discarded by the suspect.

K9 Rocky also led officers to a nearby apartment complex, where surveillance video from private citizens determined that the suspect had passed through the area and was picked up in a vehicle.

A short time later, information was received that the suspect had been seen in Green Bay. With assistance from the United States Marshal Service—Great Lakes Regional Task Force, the suspect was located and arrested without further incident.

There is no known danger to the public as a result of this incident, and the suspect is currently being held in the Manitowoc County Jail on a probation hold, and criminal charges are expected.
