Boy in critical condition after Greeley shooting

DENVER (KDVR) — A boy is in critical condition after police said he was shot several times.

On Wednesday at 8:49 p.m., Greeley Police Department officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of 24th Street on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they found a 17-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and severe injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Following an investigation, officers went to a home west of 59th Avenue, between 13th Street and 16th Street. A reverse 911 call was sent to nearby residents to shelter in place as the police department activated the SWAT team.

However, the suspect was not located, and officers cleared the scene.

On Friday, the department announced the suspect, a 15-year-old male, was located in Greeley home near 28th Avenue and 20th Street and taken into custody without incident.

The suspect is accused of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, felony menacing and aggravated robbery.

Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and there is no threat to the community.
