Boy arrested for firing gun across the street from school

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — Taylorsville Police confirmed that they arrested a juvenile male who was reportedly shooting a gun in close proximity to a school early on Wednesday.

According to a social media post from Granite School District, West Lake STEM Jr. High entered into a lockout protocol Wednesday morning because of “police activity near the school.”

Officials with the Taylorsville Police Department told ABC4.com that the juvenile male suspect was across the street from West Lake STEM Jr. High.

“To be clear, no threat was made to the school or students,” the school district said on social media.

The school district reported that two suspects were taken into custody, but Taylorsville Police said one juvenile male was taken into custody with a handgun.

There is no further information at this time.
