Suspect sought in Oceanside murder case; reward being offered

The boy was attempting to cross Rios Canyon Road as a 76-year-old man driving a 1991 GMC Sierra was traveling northbound, according to California Highway Patrol. The driver of the vehicle was unable to avoid the child and crashed into him.

Burris was taken to the hospital with major injuries, while the driver stayed at the scene, per law enforcement.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family of the victim.

CHP confirmed driving under the influence was not a factor in the crash.
