Boy, 6, run over by school bus during afternoon drop-off in Brooklyn Park
A 6-year-old boy was run over by a school bus that had just dropped him off in the parking lot of Edinburgh Golf Course, police in Brooklyn Park said Wednesday. The boy was injured but not critically.
Authorities said that at about 3 p.m., officers responded to reports that a child had been run over by a school bus at 8700 Edinbrook Crossing North. Police provided emergency aid to the child, who was then taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
The initial investigation shows that the boy had been dropped off in the parking lot and was going to walk to his home nearby. He was run over during the drop-off.
The bus left the scene but police later located the driver, who was unaware that the bus, operated by Student Safe LLC, had struck the child.
Other children were on the bus at the time.
Authorities say it appears the injuries to the boy are not life-threatening.
Brooklyn Park police and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
