Boston weight loss influencer Mila De Jesus dead suddenly at 35

Mila De Jesus, a Boston-based Brazilian weight loss influencer and YouTube star, has died at the age of 35, according to an Instagram post shared by her daughter on Monday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mila de Jesus this Friday,” read the post, along with a black-and-white photo of De Jesus. “In this moment of pain, respect family and friends and we will express our respect to Mila.”

The content creator’s cause of death has not yet been shared, and the news of her passing came as a shock to many of her 60,000+ fans.

“How come? What just happened!? I don’t understand anything,” read one top comment on the Instagram post.

Other followers sent condolences and messages of gratitude to her loved ones.

“Still can’t believe it. May God comfort the hearts of the whole family,” added fellow Brazilian influencer Camila Coelho.

De Jesus, who lived in Boston after moving from Brazil, began building a following in 2017 as she shared her weight loss journey after undergoing bariatric surgery.

On YouTube, where she amassed 103,000 subscribers, she also regularly posted makeup tutorials and other home videos.

In the months leading up to her death, De Jesus shared that she had been seriously suffering from psoriasis.

”It’s been three months dealing with this situation, 80% of my body is affected,” she wrote on Instagram in October. “Juggling doctors, medications, ointments, and taking a deep breath.”

A post from as recent as Jan. 7 showed De Jesus looking happy and healthy, bundled up and sitting on a sled in the snow.

De Jesus leaves behind four children and her husband, George Kowszik, to whom she’d been married since last September.
