The day after the attack on the 2013 Boston Marathon, bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Azamat Tazhayakov were hanging out on the UMass Dartmouth campus, surveillance video reveals.
The video, shown to jurors at Tazhayakov's obstruction of justice on Monday, shows a relaxed-looking Tsarnaev and Tazhayakov entering and exiting a UMass Dartmouth gym.
According to Tazhayakov’s lawyer, the pair never discussed what happened at the Boston Marathon.
Tazhayakov and two other friends are accused of removing evidence from Tsarnaev’s dorm room. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
According to the Boston Globe, the video was one of three shown to jurors during the trial. Closing arguments are scheduled for Wednesday.
Authorities say Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 20, and his brother, Tamerlan, 26, planned and carried out the twin bombings that killed 3 people and injured 264 more at the April 15, 2013, marathon.
The brothers also allegedly shot and killed an MIT police officer four days later before fleeing to Watertown, Massachusetts, where Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police. Dzhokhar was later captured on a boat in the Boston suburb.
Dzhokhar's trial is slated to begin in November.
