Boris Johnson rejects Nicola Sturgeon's call for second referendum on Scottish independence
Boris Johnson has rejected Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon’s call for a second referendum.
Ms Sturgeon had asked for Holyrood to be given the power to hold a fresh vote on independence, which has long been an aim for her party the SNP.
However, Mr Johnson has declined to offer to devolve the powers to allow such a vote.
In a letter to the first minister he said: “I cannot agree to any request for a transfer of power that would lead to further independence referendums.”
