How to boost your credit score

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — March is National Credit Education Month and Bree Shellito, Senior Manager of Community Impact at Ent Credit Union, shared some tips on FOX21 Morning News on how to boost your credit score.

Before you can boost your credit score, you need to know what it is, so check your credit report.

Reports can be checked at Ent.com/YourCredit and at AnnualCreditReport.com for free.

Shellito said it’s important to know what’s being reported so you know where to start improving. She also said more organizations look at your credit than you might think, not just lenders, but also landlords, potential employers, utilities, and service providers like cell phone companies and more.

When used responsibly credit cards can be a great tool to help improve your credit score. According to Ent, credit utilization is the second largest factor, behind payment history, both of which can boost your score quicker than any other method.

If you still need help, you can always work with an expert. Ent offers free financial coaching and webinars to both members and non-members. For more information, visit their website.
