Readers rejoice! There are books popping up all over public transport system, and not because someone keeps forgetting them.

The Australian organisation Books On The Rail have established a campaign asking people to leave books on trains, trams and buses in an effort to get people sharing their most loved books.

The group have already gone out and dropped some of their favourite books on Melbourne's public transport systems and are encouraging the public to do the same with their favourite fiction or fact-based book.

Best of all, there's no twist! The organisation just want people to enjoy a new book because, as they say, "a good read cheers us all up!"

Any book you find on your seat with the Books on the Rail sticker embellishing it's cover is fair game and yours to pour over to your heart's content.

Once a book is found, it's new owner is encouraged to take to social media and post it with the hashtag #BooksOnTheRail so the public can see the reach of their shared novels.

The company have put a call out for authors and publishers to also share their works — a pretty great idea for writers who are struggling with the first step — getting people to read their work!

Once you've finished with the book, you simply leave it on the next train, tram or bus you catch. Now go forth and spread the literary love.
