BookMarks Friends of Marion Public Library make donation with promises of more to come

The BookMarks Friends of Marion Public Library donated $20,000 to the Marion Public Library.

The funds support programs, services and ongoing needs of the library. The nonprofit group has donated $154,600 since its inception in 2015.

BookMarks hopes to make another donation before the end of 2024 with the anticipated success of the next two fundraisers.

The annual BookMarks Book Sale is scheduled for April 25-28. The Speaking Volumes author event is Oct. 18. Both events will be held at Marion Public Library.

The first evening of the Book Sale, April 25, is limited to members and donors and runs 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Anyone wishing to become a donor can stop by the main desk the night of the sale or visit MarionOHBookMarks.org to join.

Hours of the book sale for the general public will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 26-27 and noon-4 p.m. April 28. Boxes containing gently used titles at reasonable prices will be ready for shoppers.

The Speaking Volumes event Oct. 18 will feature Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley. Tickets will be available closer to the event through the BookMarket or online. The author will be at a cocktail hour, do a program and sign books.
