Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge traffic backed up following tractor-trailer crash
ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — All lanes of Interstate 10 on the Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge have reopened following a crash involving a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning, April 24.
In a post to X (Twitter), Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) officials first reported the crash at 5:28 a.m. at mile marker 213.
Hours earlier, at 3:52 a.m., the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported responding to the scene in which an 18-wheeler had crashed and caught fire in the eastbound lanes.

It is unknown if there were any injuries reported. DOTD officials diverted traffic to exit 209 of U.S. Highway 51 on Interstate 10 East and exit 1 on Interstate 55 South.
By 5:55 a.m., DOTD officials reported that the left lane of the bridge had reopened.
At 6:23 a.m., all lanes had reopened, according to DOTD officials.
Traffic congestion stretches for two miles.
