Bonner Elementary buzzes for World Bee Day

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Bonner Bee students were abuzz with excitement on Monday for their World Bee Day celebration at Bonner Elementary School in Tyler.

Jacksonville librarians to judge second poetry contest

The celebrations included presentations from local beekeepers Ann and Byron Kohls who taught students from kindergarten through fifth grade about beekeeping and the importance of conserving the bee, which is a crucial pollinator.

“The students’ overall reaction was that they all wanted to plant flowers and do their part to make the bee population grow,” said Maria Sanchez, a fourth-grade teacher at Bonner Elementary. “They had fun learning about how the bees work, just like they work at their jobs on campus.”

Math, art, reading, language arts and science classes also had bee-themed lessons and activities for the Bonner Bee students today.
