Bojangles restaurant in North Carolina goes viral for typo on sign
KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Bojangles restaurant in North Carolina is getting a lot of attention.
“We were working around here, we were picking up trash and I saw the sign and said something is wrong here,” said Leandro Gonzalez Espinoza.
Gonzalez, who was working in the area on Tuesday afternoon with his family business Gonzalez Gardening and Landscape LLC, said he had to Google an image of the fast-food restaurant just to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.

He soon confirmed the large, red-letter Bojangles sign on the building had a typo.
“The people here, they didn’t notice. I saw that and had to tell them, you know? I’m guessing they’re trying to finish here,” Gonzalez said.
Signs around the Bojangles say the restaurant is currently closed for remodeling. Gonzalez isn’t sure if he was the first to notice the sign with the misspelling — reading “Bojagnles” — but he does know it made him chuckle.
“It happens, you know? Probably they were in a rush, I don’t know,” Gonzalez laughed.
After snapping a photo of the sign and sharing it to social media, Gonzalez noticed his post had started to catch a lot of attention. By Wednesday morning, his photo had hundreds of shares.
One of those shares came from Caitlin Gooch in Wendell, North Carolina. Gooch is the founder of Saddle Up and Read, a nonprofit which aims to encourage kids to read.
“I didn’t even realize what was wrong with it. I’m dyslexic, so to me, it looked totally fine!” said Gooch.
The founder of the nonprofit said her miniature horse “Man Man” is a huge fan of Bojangles biscuits, so it only made sense to reach out to the restaurant to see if they could work together.
“I thought it would be a great opportunity to reach out to Bojangles and say, ‘Hey, we’re here in the community. There’s actually a Bojangles behind us. It would be cool if we could have a program called ‘Books and Biscuits,'” she said.

Gooch said it could be another way to encourage children to read while sharing books and biscuits with the animals.
To Gooch’s surprise, she received a response.
“They commented on the page and said, ‘We’re biscuit masters, not spelling bee champions,’” Gooch laughed.
She responded to the fast-food chain and said, “Leave the spelling to us, but we’d love to partner with you all to make this program a reality.”
A spokesperson with Bojangles said the company was notified about the typo immediately, and the sign’s installers replaced it within a couple of hours.
Gooch and others acknowledged that mistakes like this can happen to anyone — even a popular restaurant.
“The overall response was people laughing, and once I realized it was a typo, I laughed, too,” she said. “We’re a literacy program, but we have typos, too.”
