Update: Police release Boise woman two days after second-degree murder arrest

Police have released a Boise woman who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder over the weekend.

Boise police took 51-year-old Cambria Kirchner into custody on Saturday and booked her into jail, but she was released Monday after detectives “located additional evidence” while investigating a man’s death.

“Based on this new evidence, detectives are releasing Cambria Kichner from the Ada County Jail without criminal charges,” the Boise Police Department said in a news release.

Officers responded to the 6700 block of West Fernwood Drive after receiving reports of a suicide, according to a Sunday news release. Inside the home, they found a male who had died from a gunshot wound, police said.

“During the initial investigation, the scene appeared suspicious, and evidence led detectives to believe it to be a homicide,” the department stated.

Kirchner was arrested at 12:01 p.m and booked into the Ada County Jail at 9:04 p.m. Saturday, according to police and jail records.

Haley Williams, Boise police spokesperson, said she could not provide the Idaho Statesman with additional information on the woman’s arrest and release because the investigation is ongoing.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name once family members have been notified.
