Boeing seeks $10 bln amid 737 MAX crisis: source

Marred by its 737 MAX planes deadly record, Boeing is in talks with banks to borrow $10 billion or more amid rising costs.

That's according to a source on Monday (January 20).

Boeing grounded its 737 MAX fleet last March after two of the planes both crashed, killing 346 people.

Sources say Boeing has so far secured at least $6 billion from banks but is talking to even more lenders.

Boeing has yet to comment.

One remaining question is how long will the MAX fleet remain grounded for?

Last week Reuters reported It's unlikely that the Federal Aviation Administration would approve the plane's return until at least March.

Boeing confirmed on Monday that it temporarily halted production of the 737 MAX in Washington State.

The company has said they estimate the crisis has cost them more than $9 billion.

And last week, Boeing reported its fewest planes delivered in over a decade.

Then there's remaining issues with the plane itself.

Last week Boeing said it was working to solve a newly discovered software issue with the MAX.

Plus, the company and the FAA say-they're reviewing a wiring issue that could potentially cause a short circuit on the plane.
