Boeing sells 6 of its 777s to China Airlines; worth $2B at list prices
CHICAGO (AP) -- China Airlines has ordered six of Boeing's 777 aircraft, which would amount to about $2 billion at list prices.
It is the first order of Boeing's giant aircraft by the carrier, based in Taiwan, which are typically used for international flights.
Boeing said Friday that the flag carrier of Taiwan is adding new planes to its long-haul fleet and plans to use the new planes for flights between Asia and North America. The airline already flies 21 Airbus A330s, one of the main competitors for the 777. The airline also flies 747 passenger jets and 747 freighters.
Boeing has booked orders for more than 1,100 planes this year.
Shares of the Chicago company fell 17 cents to $76.03 on Friday.
