Body found in wooded area in Aiken Co. identified as Salley, S.C. missing man

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The body found in a wooded area in Aiken County has been identified by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office as the 52-year-old missing man.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Calvin L. Edwards, 52, of Salley, was reported missing on May 8th.

According to the Coroner’s Office, a body was found in a wooded area off of Hunters Branch Road on Friday, May 10th.

Authorities say Edwards was last seen on May 8th around 8 P.M., and it was reported that he was walking towards a pond near Hunter Branch Road.

The Coroner’s Office says that an autopsy conducted on Monday in Newberry determined that Edwards’ death was due to natural causes.

Authorities state that this is still an active investigation being conducted by the Coroner’s office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
