Body found May 19 in Rock River is a 67-year-old Rockford man

An adult male found deceased May 19 in the Rock River has been identified by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

Fritz Bailey, 67, of Rockford, was found floating in the river about 11:10 a.m. May 19 by a passerby who called 911.

Bailey was removed from the river by first responders and pronounced deceased at 12:15 p.m.

Autopsy results are pending further studies at this time.

Bailey was reported missing May 14.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s and sheriff’s offices continue to investigate.
