Body found floating in Willamette River near Steel Bridge

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officials are investigating after a body was found floating in the Willamette River early Sunday afternoon, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after 12:30 p.m., emergency crews responded after a caller reported seeing a body in the river near the Steel Bridge. Portland Fire & Rescue were first on the scene and found the body.

An MCSO boat then responded, recovered the body from the water and took it to Cathedral Park to the medical examiner for further investigation.

The cause of death and the identity of the victim have not yet been released.
