Body found floating in the Willamette River near OMSI

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A body was found floating in the Willamette River along the Eastbank Esplanade on Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, just before 11:50 a.m., a caller reported seeing the body floating off the east bank of the river near OMSI.

Portland Fire and boats from the sheriff’s office responded to the scene. Officials said that they pulled the body of a man from the river, taking it to Cathedral Park to meet the medical examiner.

The death is still under investigation and information is limited at this time.

Officials say this is the second body to be recovered from the Willamette River this week.
