Body camera video shows intense moments after Marion County bus crash

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Newly-released Marion County Sheriff’s Office body camera footage shows the moments after a bus overturned in a crash, killing eight farm workers and injuring dozens more.

Deputies and fire crews rushed to the field along Highway 40, where a battered bus lay on its side. Bryan Howard, 41, of Ocala sideswiped the bus with his pickup and is now charged with eight counts of DUI manslaughter.

Many of the bus’s 53 occupants stood against the fence, while the injured laid in the field. In the body camera footage, the deputy says 13 critically injured passengers were still trapped on the bus.

Firefighters propped open the back door of the bus with a piece of broken fencing. The video shows them attending to the wounded.
