Body by Cable: Josh Brolin shows off his 'guns' for 'Deadpool 2'

Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin shows off his muscles for Cable

At the risk of contributing to the pattern of clickbait, Josh Brolin really does have impressive guns in Deadpool 2. By guns, we mean muscles so big that Dave Bautista saw them and went, “What the f–k happened to you?!”

Brolin, who plays the time-displaced mutant Cable in Fox’s Marvel sequel, documented his transformation and silly encounter with the Guardians of the Galaxy actor in a video posted to Instagram Monday. Lifting weights at a Gold’s Gym, Brolin praised his training team, including personal trainer Justin David Lovato, for bringing the “discipline.”

The actor called Bautista’s reaction to his physique the “best compliment ever,” and said it’s due to his diet of fish, rice, eggs, veggies, water, and more “clean” foods. Check out his Cable transformation thus far in the below video.

Also spotted is Brolin’s more Cable-appropriate haircut, which he sported in a previous photo with his son, Trevor Brolin. The character, a.k.a. Nathan Summers, originated in the comics as the son of Cyclops (hence his glowing eye) and a clone of Jean Grey (hence his psychic abilities). Through a trip to an apocalyptic future, Cable grew to become a hulking mercenary with a bionic arm and massive guns (both figurative and literal ones).

Brolin joins a growing roster of newcomers to Deadpool 2 like Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz as the mutant Domino and The Strain‘s Jack Kesy as the reported villain. Ryan Reynolds also returns as the Merc with the Mouth alongside Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, and Brianna Hildebrand. David Leitch takes over for Tim Miller as director.

Deadpool 2 is scheduled for theaters on June 1, 2018. Meanwhile, Brolin continues work on his role of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
