Body of 19-year-old kayaker pulled from Silver Lake in Oakwood Hills ID’d

OAKWOOD HILLS, Ill. — The body of a kayaker who fell into Silver Lake in Oakwood Hills has been identified.

The McHenry County coroner has identified the victim has 19-year-old Thane Kilbourn of Glendale, Wisconsin.

According to the coroner, Kilbourn was kayaking when he reportedly fell out and into the lake. His body was found and removed by divers of the Cary Fire Department.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Coroner’s Office is working with Oakwood Hills police, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cary Fire Department during this investigation.
