Bob Sikes Toll Plaza lane reopens after crash

Repairs to Lane 3 at the Bob Sikes Toll Plaza have been completed and the lane is once again open for vehicles.

The lane has been closed since February when a vehicle crashed into the toll booth. The driver, a 26-year-old Navarre man, was killed in the collision. The man was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Road 399 in a sedan before crashing into the toll booth at approximately 4 a.m. Feb. 19, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Additional closures are still needed to repair damages to the building, which will require intermittent lane closures.

Officials remind drivers not to stop at the toll booth as toll-by-plate reading equipment is automatic.

Lane 4 has returned to use for emergency vehicles only.
